Under DSHEA, FDA does not have the authority to approve dietary supplements before they are marketed.
If a dietary supplement label includes such a claim, it must state in a "disclaimer" that FDA has not evaluated the claim.
What "dietary supplement" means here
The jar calls itself a dietary supplement. Under U.S. law the company behind a supplement answers for what is in it and for what the label says. Nobody approves the product before it goes on sale.
A supplement label may say what people take an ingredient for. It may not present the product as a medicine, and every such statement must carry this line:
These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
The label: quick answers
Is Hima Shilajatu shilajit approved by the FDA?
No dietary supplement is. The FDA says it has no authority to approve supplements before they are marketed, and the jar calls itself a dietary supplement with 60 servings.
What does Hima Shilajatu say about heavy metals?
The brand's description says there is no need to worry about heavy metals, and a product photo shows an outside lab certificate dated 2022. For figures on your own lot, ask for a current certificate of analysis.
How much fulvic acid is in a serving?
The label gives one amount: 500 mg of purified shilajit resin a serving. It names fulvic acid and humic acid inside that and counts 85+ trace minerals.
